  • Baked Dog Treats (8 participants)
Let’s bake some homemade dog treats to donate to a local shelter! Just a few ingredients combined with a little love will help make a furry friend’s day! (Not recommended for anyone with a peanut allergy.)

  • Sole-Hope (15 participants)
Make it possible for someone to have a pair of shoes!We’ll be cutting and constructing shoe kits to be donated to the Sole Hope organization. They will then distribute the shoes in Uganda to help the children and adults have healthier feet.

  • Paracord Bracelets (15 participants)
Let’s show some gratitude! We’ll be making paracord bracelets to be donated to Operation Gratitude. They will distribute them in care packages to troops and first responders. We will also create notes and cards to be sent with the bracelets.

  • Flowers for the Elderly (15 participants)
Flowers are always in season! Paint and decorate your pots, plant your flowers and write a nice, senior-friendly note. They’ll be donated to a local nursing home/senior center.

  • Plantthepeace.com (10 participants)
Enjoy playing games on your phone? This project allows you to spend a few hours playing fun and educational phone games for a cause. After you successfully complete a 10-question game, the Plant the Peace nonprofit will plant a tree around the globe.

  • T-Shirt Dog Toys (15 participants)
Let’s CU help our furry friends!We’ll be creating dog toys from old, recycled t-shirts. All items will benefit the animals at the Mercer County Animal Shelter.

  • No Sew Hats (15 participants)
Spread some warmth by creating hats out of fleece material! The hats will be donated to the Bluefield Union Mission for distribution to their clients during the winter months.

  • Capes for Kids (10 participants)
Make a child feel like a superhero!Help us make fun and empowering capes to be donated to children through the Enchanted Makeovers: Capes for Kids program. (No sewing required.)

  • Halloween Walk Prep (10 participants)
Help prep for our little Mountain Lion Cub’s Halloween Walk! We’ll be making Halloween treat bags, simple capes, and custom Halloween masks for the kids!

Projects listed in BLUE will require more physical activity.  Students with any limitations should self-identify and choose other service options requiring less physical exertion.
 
Also, for projects listed in BLUE, students should wear old clothing that is suitable for getting dirty and/or paint splattered.
 
Projects listed in PURPLE are not physically difficult but require the use of paint and/or dye.  Be sure to wear old clothing suitable for getting paint or dye splattered.
 
Projects will be organized following campus safety guidelines in place at the time of each project. All students will be expected to follow guidelines as required. Masks, disposable gloves, and hand sanitizer will be available for student use.  Project leaders will have disinfecting wipes for cleaning as needed during each project.

Check-In for Student Service Days will be from 8:30-9:00 AM in the Student Center Subway Sides area. Groups will be leaving for their projects promptly at 9:00 AM, so do not be late!!
