An Important Message From The President

Dear Concord family,

As higher education institutions and other entities across the nation and state make preparations for the current emerging public health concern, Concord University is taking steps to protect our campus community and to do our part to minimize the spread of illness.  A committee on campus composed of faculty, staff, and administration has been meeting regularly and this morning made suggestions that comprise the following plan that will be implemented immediately.

The first step in our plan is to extend Spring Break by one week for all of our students.  Students with extenuating circumstances who need to return to campus this weekend must contact housing at 304-384-5202. Housing decisions will be determined on an individual basis.

Faculty and staff will report to campus on Monday, March 16 as scheduled. During the week of the 16, we will engage in planning and training for procedures that may or may not become necessary for continuing University operations during the remainder of the semester. There will be numerous meetings with faculty and staff so that they can provide us input about how to move forward.  An official announcement about additional measures will be made on Thursday, March 19.

From this date forward, all university sanctioned travel is suspended unless approved by the President. Campus events scheduled for next week are canceled. Advising for course selection is postponed.

We will update our website, social media accounts, and our emergency alert system messages as plans unfold. The decisions being made rely heavily on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, the State of West Virginia, and local health officials. They are intended to protect the health and welfare of students, faculty, staff, and communities. The situation is ever changing, so I do want to thank you for your patience, cooperation, and flexibility as we navigate this difficult situation.

Faculty, staff, students, and parents can call 1-304-384-5202 for additional information or email questions to covid19@concord.edu.

Sincerely,

Kendra S. Boggess
President
