Alpha Iota Chi of Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society

Pi Sigma Alpha is the National Political Science Honor Society. Founded in 1920 at the University of Texas, Pi Sigma Alpha aspires to recognize excellence in academic achievement by undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of political science, government, international and public affairs; to stimulate scholarship and interest in political science; to promote worthwhile curricular and extracurricular activities related to political science; to promote civil dialog; and to engage in any other activities that further these purposes. There are more than 7000 students in 600 chapters in colleges and universities across the United States.

Alpha Iota Chi of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society was established at Concord University in 2015. The chapter inducted their inaugural class November 2015.

Alpha Iota Chi of Pi Sigma Alpha Student Membership Requirements
  • Completion of at least half the credits required for the baccalaureate degree (i.e. Junior or Senior standing)
  • Completion of at least 10 semester credits of work in political science including at least one upper-division course
  • Have a 3.0 Grade Point Average or higher in all courses in political science
  • Maintenance of a 3.5 overall Grade Point Average
  • Declared as a Political Science Major or Minor

Membership Process. Any student who meets the foregoing requirements will be invited to membership in Alpha Iota Chi. The Chapter Advisor, as a member of the faculty, will determine eligibility based on the students’ academic record, and all students who meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to membership.
