School bus loads of area high school students from West Virginia and Virginia descended upon the CU campus the frosty morning of Thursday, Oct. 23. The 338 students representing 17 schools were participants in the 21st Annual Concord Business Challenge (CBC) hosted by the Division of Business. The Concord Business Challenge is designed to give high school students an opportunity to test their business knowledge base and teachers an opportunity to learn about new teaching tools and techniques.
After gathering in the Fine Arts Center for registration, a continental breakfast and greetings from the University, the business minded high schoolers spent the morning in competition. Contest topics ranged from Accounting, Business Computer Literacy, and Marketing Principles to Economics, Business Law, and Management and Entrepreneurship Principles.
The noon time awards ceremony in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre revealed that Richlands High School won first place in the overall team competition. Greenbrier East High School received second place and Fayette Institute of Technology claimed third place. Scholarship awards and awards for first, second and third place in the individual competition were also presented.
