Kim Chambers
Biography
Dr. Kimberly Chambers is an Associate Professor of Biology at Concord University. She began teaching at Concord in 2006 for the chemistry program but has since transitioned to the biology program. Over the course of her teaching career, Dr. Chambers has taught biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and introductory chemistry and biology courses. In the classroom, she uses active learning strategies to foster an environment where students develop critical thinking skills and apply what they have learned. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Chambers serves on the Pre-Health Advisory Committee, the University Assessment Committee, and the Faculty Senate. She can be contacted at kchambers@concord.edu.
Education
Ph.D., Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, Cornell University (2003)
B.S., Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Gettysburg College (1997)
Research
Dr. Chambers earned her doctorate in the fields of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology. These fields strive to understand how life emerges via interactions among nonliving matter. She has always been intrigued by the molecular logic of life. The fact that all of the complex activities and properties of living organisms come from a collection of lifeless molecules undergoing numerous chemical reactions is amazing! Her research is focused on studying the molecular aspects of cancer.
