Grammy Award Winner Barbara Hutchison to Perform at CU on Wednesday, December 5

Athens, W.Va. – On Wednesday, December 5th, Concord University will present a very special concert by Grammy Award winner Barbara Bailey Hutchison. A reviewer wrote of this gifted entertainer: “Hutchison has a way with words and the music she wraps around them.”

In addition to two concerts at the White House and 17 CDs, colleges and universities nationwide voted her “Best Solo Act,” “Best Acoustic Act,” and “Best Female Performer.” This very special concert begins at 9 p.m. in the State Room at the Student Center, and you should arrive early if you want a good seat.

Hutchison's rich, warm voice will be familiar to millions of television viewers and radio listeners from the hundreds of commercials she has sung for McDonald’s, Hallmark Cards, and other national advertisers. She describes her music as “neo-folk,” but in truth it defies categorization. Some have tried, none is 100 percent accurate.

This is a woman with lots to say, and a voice that lets you understand every word. Barbara Bailey Hutchison and her music are full of grace and humor.

Circle December 5th on your calendar and plan on arriving early. If you miss this concert, you'll miss a lot. One critic admitted, “Hutchison's performance left me thinking that even at 75 minutes, it ended too soon.”

Hutchison's concert will begin at 9 p.m. and admission is free. She will be available following the concert to talk with the audience and sign CDs.
