Community Invited To Evening of Entertainment At Concord University Dec. 3

ATHENS, W.Va. ?�� Holiday entertainment by student vocalists and musicians and a performance by an internationally acclaimed jazz group pack the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 on "The Campus Beautiful."

Concord University invites the community to join the festivities which begin with the annual Holiday Open House at University Point from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The ConChords and an instrumental ensemble will sing and play holiday music in the Wilkes Family Chapel and the Pais Fellowship Hall. The ConChords will begin the open house with caroling (weather permitting). Traveling across campus, they will make stops at the student center, Marsh Hall and the library steps and welcome guests outside of University Point.

Santa Claus plans to stop by the open house and will be waiting in the Erickson Alumni Lounge for children to share their wish lists. The Holiday Hall of Trees, featuring the theme "Songs of the Season" and decorated by Concord faculty, staff and students, will be displayed in the fellowship hall. Holiday wassail and hors d?��oeuvres are on the menu along with other festive goodies.

Following the open house, Boston Brass takes the stage in the Alexander Fine Arts Center?��s main auditorium. The performance begins at 7 p.m.

Promising "an evening of great music and boisterous fun," Boston Brass combines classical arrangements, jazz standards and the best of the original brass quintet repertoire to offer a performance that appeals to all ages. The group?��s philosophy is to offer audiences a wide selection of musical styles in unique arrangements, provided in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

Performing for nearly three decades, Boston Brass has appeared in 49 states and 30 countries and has recorded several diverse albums including "Latin Nights" which features some of the greatest classical and jazz works by Latin composers and performers.

The community is invited to attend the open house and the Boston Brass concert free of charge.
