Bells Will Be Ringing This Easter Weekend in Athens

Athens, W.Va. - The beautiful and unique sounds of the 48 tuned, bronze bells of the Marsh Memorial Carillon at Concord College, Athens—West Virginia’s only true carillon—will be ringing this Easter weekend.

Internationally acclaimed carillonneur Todd Fair will be on the Athens campus this coming Friday evening, Saturday, and Easter Sunday playing Concord’s carillon bells. He will be recording favorite and familiar selections from patriotic, classical, popular and many other musical categories for a CD the College will release for sale.

Mr. Fair traveled throughout Europe for almost 25 years playing some of the most famous bells on the continent. He then moved to the United States where he was carillonneur for the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and now is carillonneur for the University of Denver’s new 65-bell carillon.

A schedule is not available, due to the nature of the performance and recording sessions, but the public is invited to come to Athens over the Easter weekend and hear the beautiful bells.
