Powell Scholarship Helps Concord College Student

Athens, W.Va. - Based on a desire to help deserving, non-traditional West Virginia students, Skip Powell, CEO of Powell, Inc., Barboursville, W.Va., presented a full scholarship to Concord College student Diana L. Marshall.

“I spent the early years of my life in Hinton, so I have fond memories of southern West Virginia and its wonderful people,” commented Powell. “I want to help struggling students who are sometimes unable to continue their education due to financial constraints beyond their control.”

He went on to say, “The staff at Concord, particularly financial aid has been instrumental in identifying prospective recipients, and with their assistance we will continue to seek deserving students.”

Originally from Oakvale in Mercer County, Diane L. Marshall is currently a junior at Concord and majoring in elementary education. She plans to teach upon graduation, and wants to remain in southern West Virginia where she is active in her church and community.
