Concord College to Present Check to American Red Cross

Athens, W.Va. - International students who attend Concord College organized a fundraising drive to help victims of the earthquake that stuck northwestern India on January 26, 2001. Millions were left homeless and thousands perished in the natural disaster.

Fifteen Concord students, Interim Student Affairs Director Debbie Curry and International Student Advisor Nancy Ellison coordinated the drive. The student fundraising efforts far exceeded their goal of $3,000.

President Jerry Beasley and international students will present a check to the American Red Cross at a news conference scheduled for next week.
