Plans Underway for Business-Technology Expo in October

Princeton, W.Va. - Plans for southern West Virginia’s Business Technology Expo are underway. The expo will be October 25 and 26, 2001 at the Brushfork Armory in Mercer County and is sponsored by the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce.

The Princeton Chamber will host their monthly Business After Hours, Thursday, October 25, 5:00 p.m., so that area business men and women will have an opportunity to network with other business leaders and vendors. The cost for admission is $5.00 per person and a business card. A Business Before Hours will be held Friday, October 26, 7:30 a.m. and is open to PMCCC members. Reservations are required. Cost for non-chamber members is $2.00. The exhibits will be open to the public Friday, October 26. Cost for admission to the show will be $2.00.

Call For Exhibitors

All area businesses utilizing technology are encouraged to exhibit, including: telecommunications, health care, education, services (engineering, personal care, etc.), hardware, banking or other businesses where technology is used. Cost to exhibit will be $100 for a 10X10, $175 for a 10X20 and $250 for a 10X30, which will include draping, tables and chairs. Exhibitors are encouraged to register early.

CEUs available for Architects, Engineers and Building Code Officials

Twelve Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) will be offered at no charge to area architects, engineers and building code officials who need to maintain their professional certification. Funding is being provided by the U.S. Department of Energy and the program is being administered by the West Virginia Development Office. Training will be provided by Pacific Northwest National Laboratories.

Residential codes classes will be held Thursday, October 25, 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Commercial codes classes will be held Friday, October 26, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

CEUs for Lawyers, Accountants, Insurance Agents, Teachers and the General Public

Integrating Technology in the Classroom will be offered for teachers on Thursday, October 25, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. On Friday, October 26, Managing Chaos in Today's Information Age will be offered for the business community from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On Friday, October 26, the following classes will be held for the general public: (1) How to be a Smart Computer Shopper, (2) Creating an Internet Presence for your Business and (3) Geographic Information Systems and Business. Schedules for Friday’s classes for the general public will be announced at a later date.

Speakers Available for Meetings

The Chamber is providing speakers at no charge to area civic and community organizations. Speakers will discuss technology and business issues in this region.
