Roth Walk/Run to Benefit Concord Scholarship Fund

Athens, W.Va. - A 5-K walk/run to benefit the David S. Roth Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held Tuesday, May 7, at Concord College in Athens. Registration begins at 5 p.m. at Carter Hall. The walk/run begins at 6:15 p.m.

The entry fee for the general public is $12 (or $10 for early registration). The entry fee for college and secondary students is $6 (or $5 for early registration). Registration forms are available at the College Bookstore or from Tom Davis (1-304-384-3298).

All proceeds of the walk/run will be donated to the Roth Scholarship fund, established to honor the memory of Dr. David S. Roth. Dr. Roth, who taught English and journalism at Concord from 1969 to 1986, was involved in many activities beyond the classroom, including serving as a statistician, reporter, and announcer for Concord athletics.

Sponsored by the Concord Student Government Association, the Roth Walk/Run supports the SGA's "Light a Fire" Campaign by encouraging involvement in campus and community activities. A lighted-torch design and Dr. Roth's motto "Get involved!" is featured on the T-shirts the walk/run participants will receive.

For more information, contact Tom Davis, 1-304-384-3298 or Liz Roth, 1-304-384-5229.
