Fund for Concord Dinner Slated for Thursday, November 18

Athens, W.Va. – “The 2004 Charleston Fund for Concord Dinner will be held Thursday, November 18 in the Grand Ballroom of the Embassy Suites,” announced David Kirby of Wachovia Securities, Inc., chair for the planning committee.

“Keynote speaker for the event will be David J. Zuercher, executive vice president international for Correspondent Banking and Insurance Services, Wells Fargo & Company.”

David J. Zuercher is the group head responsible for Wells Fargo’s International, Correspondent Banking and Insurance Services Group, a business segment that generates $1 billion in annual revenue for Wells Fargo and employs more than 5,000 team members. The International and Correspondent Banking divisions comprise Wells Fargo Bank’s trade finance, foreign exchange, cross border treasury management services, cross border e-commerce, and cross border investments. Insurance Services comprises Wells Fargo’s commercial property and casualty brokerage businesses.

Zuercher is the Chairman of Wells Fargo HSBC Trade Bank, N.A., a joint venture between Wells Fargo and HSBC Group, which specializes in trade finance. He is also Chairman of Acordia, Inc., a Wells Fargo company that is the fifth largest property and casualty insurance broker in the U.S. Additionally, Zuercher is a Director of Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd. of Hong Kong, SAR. He is Chairman of Global Impact, a District of Columbia based nonprofit organization, and a Director of The California Council for International Trade, Executive Service Corps of Southern California, The Los Angeles World Affairs Council, and The Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County.

In his 35-year career with Wells Fargo, Zuercher has worked throughout Wells’ organization in a number of lending and management positions. His responsibilities within the Wells Fargo have included asset generation, customer retention, credit management, loan workouts, sales, and marketing.

Zuercher graduated from Loyola Marymount University, of which he is currently a member of its Board of Regents.

He and his wife, Claudia, have three adult children.

“This is the sixth annual dinner to be held in Charleston,” noted Mr. Kirby. “Proceeds from the dinner will fund student scholarships at Concord University, with more than 85 percent of freshmen at Concord receiving some level of financial support. Fifty-five percent of Concord’s students are in the first generation of their families to go to a college or university.”

The reception starts at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Cost for the tickets is $100 for individuals. Tables may be purchased for $1,000, $2,500 or $5,000 each.
