Public Service Announcement: Aids Awareness Lecture at Concord, Wednesday, April 13

Athens, W.Va. – The Bonner Scholars and the Triangle Association invite you to attend a lecture on AIDS awareness on Wednesday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the College Center State Room at Concord University.

The presenter will be Julie Britton Haden of the West Virginia Coalition for People with AIDS from Covenant House. Covenant House is located in Charleston, W.Va., and is dedicated to working for justice by offering direct services to people in need while creating social change through education.

The lecture is being held on the last day of a fundraiser to benefit Covenant House. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Bonner Scholars.

The Bonner Scholars Program at Concord University combines student participation in community service and scholarship.

The Triangle Association provides a place where sexual minorities can be themselves without fear and judgment.

“Admission to the lecture is free, and we encourage you to bring grooming supplies, canned food, or clothing which can be used as a donation toward supporting projects at Covenant House. We are concluding a fundraiser for Covenant House, and still need additional support for a variety of programs they sponsor, including AIDS and homelessness. We hope everyone will come out and learn about these social concerns and donate something to this very worthwhile cause,” said Amanda Woods, who is serving as an intern at Covenant House. Woods, a psychology and social work major from Charleston, is a sophomore at Concord University and is also a Bonner Scholar. “This is a great way to get involved!” she concluded.
