Fifth Annual Relay for Life to be Held at Concord

Athens, W.Va. - Concord University will be hosting its fifth annual Relay for Life on Saturday, April 29 from 12 noon to midnight. The Relay for Life, which will benefit the American Cancer Society, will be held at Callaghan Stadium.

Several campus organizations including sororities, fraternities, athletic organizations, housing and individuals will be participating. There will be onsite fundraising for cancer research as well as a luminary service at 9 p.m. in honor of those who have survived, lost their fight, or are currently fighting cancer. Last year Concord raised more money per capita than WVU and Marshall and event organizers have high expectations for this year’s event as well.

This year Concord University will be teaming up with Athens Elementary School in the fight against cancer. The theme for this year is “Superheroes and Cartoons.” Event organizers encourage children and their parents to don costumes and join in the fun as funds for cancer research are raised.

The public is encouraged to attend to help support the fight against cancer.
