Concord University Announces Graduate Courses for Fall 2008 in Athens and Beckley

Athens, W.Va. – Registration and payment of fees for classes for licensed or license-eligible teachers for the fall semester at Concord University is now open and classes will begin on August 25, 2008. Graduate students may choose to enroll in graduate coursework for re-certification, to provide greater specialization within one’s field, or to assist in professional advancement. Select courses for “Reading Specialist” will be offered in Beckley.

For unconditional acceptance, applicants must: Hold a baccalaureate degree with a minimum 2.75 GPA from a regionally accredited institution; Be licensed or license-eligible to teach; Provide official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test scores at the 50th percentile or above; Provide a copy of professional licensure; Provide official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate classes (with the exception of Concord University); Provide two letters recommending admission into the program; Submit the completed Disposition Assessment; Complete the Application for Admission, and submit it with a $25 fee.

The M.Ed. Program is a 36-hour program specifically designed for licensed or license-eligible teachers. The program consists of a 15-hour professional education core and a 21-hour content specialization.

Cost per credit hour is $273 for in-state students and $480 for out-of-state students. A special reduced “clinical fee” of $246 per credit hour is available for any teacher currently employed in Bland, Tazewell, or Giles County in Virginia and in Mercer, McDowell, Wyoming, Fayette, Raleigh, Monroe, Summers and Greenbrier counties in W.Va. In addition, lab and technology fees may apply.
