CU Hosts Eighth Annual Relay for Life Saturday, April 25

Athens, W.Va. - Concord University will host the American Cancer Society’s fundraiser, Relay For Life, Saturday, April 25, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Leslie R. and Ruby Webb Carter Center. This is the eighth annual Relay for Life event at Concord University.
Money raised will go towards helping cancer patients and their families in the form of research, education, advocacy and service. Since 2002, Concord University’s Relay for Life has raised over $150,000 for the American Cancer Society. Concord’s goal this year is to raise $18,000.
Cancer survivors are invited to join students for the Opening Ceremony and Survivor’s Walk at 6 p.m. The Luminary Ceremony, where luminary bags are lit in order to honor those who have battled cancer, will be held at 9 p.m. Community members are invited to attend and participate.
