Classical Guitarist And Concord Univeristy Senior To Perform On Athens Campus

ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University Senior Ben Ide will be performing classical guitar pieces in the Alexander Fine Arts Building Main Auditorium on Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. The Alexander Fine Arts Building is located on Concord University’s campus at 1000 Vermillion Street, Athens, W.Va.

Ide is a classical guitarist who is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Concord University. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and Greenbrier Valley Theatre in his hometown of Lewisburg, W.Va. Ide will be performing music ranging from after the Renaissance to contemporary selections including Bach, Debussy and Harold Arlen.

Ide started teaching himself how to play guitar at the age of 14. Three years later he began studying with Nathan Griffith, a world-class guitarist living in southern West Virginia. Currently, Ide is studying guitar and composition with Dr. Timothy Mainland at Concord.
