ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University is hosting its seventh annual Career Fair on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the Student Center Ballroom. The event will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and is open to Concord University students at no charge.

Businesses may register by visiting and clicking on the Career Fair tab. Light refreshments will be provided during the event and many companies provide door prizes.

Students from the RTM 415 (Recreation and Tourism Management) class have been planning the career fair for the past seven years in partnership with Tammy Monk in career services. All Concord students, from freshmen to seniors, are invited to attend. Students will walk away with more information about their futures and employment plans. Professionals will be available to share their experiences with job hunting and offer foresight on popular fields of the future.

Of the approximate 30 businesses on hand attendees will meet representatives from the WV State Tax Department (business degrees); Logan and Pocahontas county schools (education degrees); WV State Parks (recreation and tourism management degrees); Alderson Federal Prison (social work) and many more. A complete list of employers will be available March 18.

Those who are seriously seeking employment should have a quality resume on hand and prepare to meet representatives in an informal interview environment. Business casual attire is encouraged.

Students with questions about how to prepare a resume can join Dr. Williams’ RTM 100 class with guest Tammy Monk as they will go over how to properly craft a resume and prepare for job interviews. The class meets on Tuesday, March 19 in Room 320 of the Administration Building at 9:30 a.m.

“Any student can join us that day to learn more about resumes and interviews. We have plenty of room for visitors in both classrooms” Williams said.

Professors are encouraged to bring their classes to the Career Fair during the last 30 minutes of lecture and students can visit any time between classes.
