‘CONTROLLED CHAOS’ FEATURING WORKS
BY CONCORD UNIVERSITY SENIOR STERLING SNYDER
ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University will be hosting an artist exhibition featuring works by senior Sterling Snyder from May 5th – 17th in the Arthur Butcher Gallery. The artist reception will be held on May 8th from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The Arthur Butcher Gallery is located in the Alexander Fine Arts building on Concord’s Athens campus, 1000 Vermillion St., Athens.
“Controlled Chaos” will feature photographs of the urban scene in Appalachia. Snyder explains, “I chose to photograph cities throughout Appalachia in hopes of showcasing a different side to this otherwise rural culture. I choose to omit color to simplify the pieces as much as possible and put emphasis on the composition.”
Using his skill, Snyder is able to create structured art from disarray. “Using this equipment and knowledge, I attempt to harness the disorder around me into something controlled,” he said.
The art show and reception are open to the general public. All are encouraged and invited to attend. For more information regarding the show, visit www.sterling-snyder.com
