Concord University’s Percussion And Jazz Ensembles To Perform ‘Election Day Blues’

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Division of Fine Arts presents “Election Day Blues” which will be performed on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center on Concord’s main campus at 1000 Vermillion St. in Athens, W.Va.

The percussion ensemble, directed by Mr. Casey Cangelosi, will be performing first and the jazz ensemble, directed by Dr. David Ball, will follow. Crystale Taylor and Samuel Whittaker, seniors at Concord University, will each be featured vocalists during the performance.

The percussion ensemble’s performance will feature pieces such as “Postlude V For Bowed Vibraphone” by Elliot Cole and “Nagoya Marimbas” by Steve Reich. The jazz ensemble’s performance will include jazz standards by Duke Ellington and covers by bands such as Lake Street Dive, Rubble Bucket, and John Mayer. Lake Street Dive is an indie jazz and soul band, Rubble Bucket is an indie-dance/ska band, and John Mayer is a solo artist.
