COLLEGIATE SINGERS AND CONCHORDS TO PERFORM AT CONCORD
ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University will be hosting a concert on Friday, Nov. 14 beginning at 7 p.m. Performances will be presented by Concord’s very own Collegiate Singers and ConChords in the Wilkes Family Chapel located inside University Point on the Athens campus.
The Collegiate Singers and ConChords fall concert involves two ensembles - the Collegiate Singers comprised of 32 Concord students and the ConChords comprised of 12 Concord students.
The Collegiate Singers will be performing a piece called “Gloria” by Antonio Vivaldi and other various pieces by American composers. Within that work there will be several solos by Concord music students. The ConChords will be singing 16th-century motets and madrigals, as well as contemporary a capella pop, jazz, and classical pieces.
Dr. Kelly Hudson, assistant music professor at Concord University and event organizer for the concert, said, “The concert is an opportunity to hear quality, entertaining music from various centuries, as well as to see fellow Concord students perform.”
There will be many artistic presentations to come and admire. Hudson said, “The ensembles have been preparing for this concert since the beginning of the academic year – it is the culminating project of the fall semester.”
The concert is free to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. For any questions about this event please contact Dr. Kelly Hudson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 304-384-5301.
