ATHENS, W.Va. – Former Concord University student, Richard Corey Franklin, will be visiting campus for a reading and book signing of his book “The Twisted Muse.”  Franklin will be in the Fine Arts Main Auditorium Lobby on March 6th at 7 p.m.

As a student in his undergraduate studies at Concord University to his master’s studies at Ohio University, Corey paid his way through school by performing musically and gambling professionally throughout the southeastern United States.

The works featured in his book span from his writings starting in 1989 up to the present day.  Corey’s book presents works of poetry that witness the evolution of his life.  Included are “Diary of a Psychopath” and the song “I Am,” in which he tells his readers of his struggle with economic hardships and bipolar disorder.  He also recounts his experience in almost losing his writing hand in a horrific accident in 2009.

He selected these mentioned poems and songs from his handwritten pages.  Through the medium of these works, Corey shares his multifaceted persona as a seeker, a reader and a lover of nature, of country music, and cowboy movies.  Using vivid imagery, this collection of poetry offers insight into how Corey grew as a writer, lyricist, and person while living with bipolar disorder.

Books will be for sale on site the day of the signing.
