CONCORD UNIVERSITY BAND PERFORMING IN CONCERT ON APRIL 27
ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Band will be performing its second concert of the semester on April 27 at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.
The event is titled “A Light Unto Darkness” after David Gillingham’s band piece of the same title that pays tribute to the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995.
The band is under the direction of Dr. David Ball, Director of Bands at Concord University.
“The concert showcases the diligent work of the ensemble members,” Dr. Ball said. “Multiple pieces in this performance are in homage to the victims of tragedies to the human race during the month of April and serve to remind us of the beauty, brevity and sadness of human life.”
The band will, as in past concert events, have several alumni and middle and high school guests from the region joining in performance with the ensemble.
There is no admission charge, but donations to the band fund will be accepted. The public is invited to attend.
