ATHENS, W.Va.  – The Concord University Jazz Ensemble will present a J.A.M.S. or Jazz at the Monday Spot concert on Oct. 17, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the H.C. Paul Theatre, which is located in the Alexander Fine Arts Center on Concord’s Athens, W.Va. campus.

The jazz ensemble will perform a set that is heavily influenced by South American culture and the 2016 Rio Olympics. Selections will include Sambe De Orteu, The Peanut Vendor, and a variety of other standard jazz tunes.

Dr. David Ball, Professor of Music and Director of the Jazz Ensemble says, “The jazz event is always more of a laid back event. It provides people the opportunity to explore a wide variety of cultural music.”

The concerts are informal and participation by attendees is both welcomed and encouraged. “We hope that people will come out to dance, enjoy the music, and have a good time,” Ball added.

There is no admission charge and the concerts are open to the public. Concord students, faculty, and staff, along with members of the community are invited to attend. For more information, contact Dr. David Ball at 304-384-6090 or email at
