CU Band Performing ‘Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!’

ATHENS, W.Va.  – The Concord University Band, directed by Dr. David Ball, will be performing their first concert of the semester, Godzilla Eats Las Vegas! Dr. Jay Crone will be featured with the group performing Rimsky-Korsakov's Trombone Concerto. The performance will be Feb. 28, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.

Tickets will not be sold for the event. Instead, the band asks that you donate a nonperishable food item for the Concord University food pantry or the cash equivalent for admission to the performance. The Concord community and the general public are invited to attend.

Trombone soloist, Dr. Jay Crone is Professor of Music at Virginia Tech where he joined the faculty in 1994. He has performed with many symphony orchestras and bands throughout the United States, including the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra. He is currently the Principal Trombone of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Opera Roanoke, and the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra. He also performs with the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival Orchestra in Harrisonburg, Va.
