CU Band Performing ‘Elements’

ATHENS, W.Va.  – The Concord University Band will be performing their second concert of the semester, Elements, directed by Dr. David Ball.  The performance will be April 27, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.

Tickets will not be sold for the event. Instead, the band asks that attendees donate a nonperishable food item for the Concord University food pantry or the cash equivalent for admission to the performance. The Concord community and the general public are invited to attend.

Elements is a short four-movement piece musically representing air, water, earth and fire.  Captain Brian O. Walden will be the featured guest conductor for the night.  Captain Walden earned a bachelor’s degree in music with a double major in religious studies from Saint Leo University in Florida and a master’s degree in wind ensemble conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

He also holds a graduate diploma in national security strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I.  Captain Walden is currently studying in the doctoral program for music education at George Mason University. He is the Director of Bands at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va.
