CONCORD UNIVERSITY HOSTING PATRIOT DAY CEREMONY
ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University will observe Patriot Day with a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017. The outdoor program will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Athens campus and will be held on the lawn in front of Marsh Hall (Administration Building.)
The general public is invited to join the Concord campus community for the ceremony.
The Concord University Student Veterans Association is presenting the program with special assistance from the PikeView High School JROTC. The JROTC will present the colors. Concord Veterans Advocate Steven Kennedy will offer a remembrance speech.
Kennedy explains the significance of the ceremony. “This event signifies that we as a country will never forget the terrible actions that happened on Sept. 11, 2001,” he said. “This is a time for us to come together as one nation and respect the lives lost on the day; to remember the immense support that was shown throughout this country; and to reflect on the patriotism that spread across America like wildfire.”
