CONCORD UNIVERSITY BANDS PRESENTING SPRING CONCERT
ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Concert Band and Concord Commanders Big Band will be presenting their first concert of the semester on Thursday, Feb. 28. The one-hour performance begins at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Main Auditorium.
“We have two concerts every spring semester. This will be the first time in several years that we will have a full big band,” stated Dr. David Ball, Director of Bands at Concord.
“These concerts feature the instrumental works that the students have been working up throughout the semester,” he said.
The Concert Band will present works by Gabrieli, Holst, and Sousa. Big Band numbers include “April in Paris,” “Stompin’ at the Savoy,” and more.
Admission to the event is free. Donations will be collected for the Humane Society of Raleigh County. In lieu of ticket fees, guests are encouraged to please donate: Alpo and/or Pedigree dog foods; Dog, Puppy, Cat, and/or Kitten Chows; Friskies canned cat food; or monetary donations.
