ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University is excited to announce the famous “Cupcake Lady” Gigi Butler as the 2019 Beckley Dinner featured speaker. Gigi’s Cupcakes started as a single store in Nashville, Tennessee in 2008. Now there are more than 100 stores in 24 states, making Gigi’s the largest cupcake franchise in the world.

Gigi Butler’s story has drawn attention from a number of media outlets. She was featured on the hit CBS television show “Undercover Boss” in 2015, her story is among other inspirational ones included in the book The Power of Broke, written by Shark Tank’s Daymond John, she told her story as a TEDx speaker,  and now you have the chance to hear this inspirational story in person.

At the Beckley Dinner, Gigi will speak about her successful cupcake business and her new book The Secret Ingredient, but this is just frosting on the multi-layered cake of inspirational advice she has to offer Concord’s Foundation sponsors who attend the Beckley Dinner this year. This is not her first business, and it is most certainly not her first dream. From a young age, Gigi Butler has been an entrepreneur, driven to do whatever it takes to succeed. But Gigi says after 15 years of struggle, she realized that “sometimes you just have to let that dream die so new ones can begin.” With this epiphany, Gigi’s Cupcakes was born.

Gigi Butler’s story is proof that sometimes you have to “have the guts to re-dream” in order to reach your full potential. Come to The Resort at Glade Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 to hear about sweet success and taste what finally brought Gigi Butler into the bright lights of stardom.
