Business Seniors Honored at CU

Athens, W.Va. – On Wednesday, April 23, the Concord University Division of Business hosted a party to honor seniors who will be graduating this May. The party, planned by the Student Business Advisory Council, was held in Concord’s new Rahall Technology Center, and about 40 faculty and business division students attended.

Kendra Boggess, professor and chair of the Division of Business, said of the event, “We enjoy recognizing the good work of our graduating seniors and this event provides us an opportunity to congratulate each graduate. It is also nice to be able to interface with our students in a more personal, non-classroom format. In the future, we hope to hold more events of a similar nature to which we can invite local and regional business people, and provide additional networking opportunities to students.”

The following awards were presented by the Business Division for the 2007-08 academic year:

Business Student of the Year-Mika Pierson of Maysel, Accounting Scholar-Charles Smith of Princeton, Administrative Systems Scholar-Miku Nitta of Tokyo, Japan, Finance Scholar-Myank Jain of Kolkata, India, Management Scholar-Bent-Lee Carr of Shawsville, Va., Marketing Scholar: Niya Apostolova of Varna, Bulgaria. Of these six, Miku, Myank, and Bent-Lee will be graduating this May.

The Division of Business will have 54 graduates at this May’s commencement.
