CU Students, Faculty Attend “Social Work Day at the Legislature”

Athens, W.Va. – On Wednesday, March 4, 12 students and two faculty members from Concord University’s social work program attended “Social Work Day at the Legislature” in Charleston.

The event was sponsored by the West Virginia National Association of Social Workers and provided an opportunity for social workers across the state to visit elected officials and learn about the legislative process.

Drs. Joan Pendergast and Sarah Whittaker accompanied students from a “Social Policy and Services Analysis” class.

The students who attended were: Ala Obey from Jenkinjones; Amy Chandler from Charleston; Ashley Lacy from Crab Orchard; Colby Whitfield from San Francisco, Calif.; Haymanot Zeleke from Alexandria, Va.; Kaitlyn Begg from Valley Head; Sarah Begg from Valley Head; Lamar Reese from Bartow, Fla.; Melissa Smith from Hinton; Micah Carter from Beckley; Parisa Bigdeli from Herndon, Va.: and Rebecca Gouty from South Charleston.
