New Club at Concord Donates DVDs to Marsh Library

Athens, W.Va. – The Concord University History Club recently donated three sets of History Channel DVDs: “Engineering an Empire,” (series one, Egypt and Rome); “Seven Deadly Sins”; and “The Presidents” to the J. Frank Marsh Library.

“We wanted to watch them for our own interest, and then we decided to donate them to the library so that others could enjoy,” stated Ginger Boyles, president of the new Club. “This is the first donation to the Marsh Library, and our goal is to make a donation to the Library on an annual basis,” she stated.

The History Club, launched this year, has a membership of 19 students, and the advisor is Assistant Professor of History Jonathan M. Berkey. The Club plans to make the donation an annual goal that will be supported by membership dues and fundraisers.

Dr. Stephen D. Rowe, library director, professor of English and interim vice president and academic dean, stated that, “We are very appreciative of this contribution to the Marsh Library. The History Channel produces high quality programming that will aid in students’ understanding of significant historical events and personalities.”

Boyles is a junior from Princeton majoring in history, and her anticipated graduation date is 2011.
