Concord University Alumni and Community Chorus Calling for Members

Athens, W.Va. - Concord alumni and community members are invited to join the Concord Alumni and Community Chorus. The group will perform with the Concord University Collegiate Singers Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Main Auditorium.

Although previous singing experience is encouraged, it is not required. Interested singers should be able to attend the following rehearsals in the Concord University Choir Room located in the Alexander Fine Arts Center: Sunday, April 18 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 25 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The April 29 concert will focus on the theme “Psalms and Soul” which will be highlighted with Collegiate Singers performing Leonard Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms.” The Collegiate Singers is a select ensemble comprised of Concord students devoted to the artistic performance of music.

The Concord Alumni and Community Chorus will perform the repertoires: “Antiphon” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God” by Carl Mueller and “Walkin’ on that Heavenly Road” by Greg Gilpin. Other choral Psalm settings and gospel pieces will be featured at this performance.
