Sherry Brogan Named Grand Marshal of Concord Homecoming Parade

ATHENS - Sherry Brogan, a dedicated member of Concord University’s staff for 26 years, will be honored as the 2010 Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal. As Grand Marshal, Mrs. Brogan will have the honor of leading the parade.

The annual parade will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. on Vermillion Street in Athens.

Mrs. Brogan began her career at Concord in the Housing Office. During her tenure, she has been employed with Alumni Affairs, the Development Office and the Concord University Foundation, Inc.

During the last five years, Sherry has been a member of the Financial Aid Staff. She says that she has enjoyed working for all of the offices and that each has had positives. “I’ve been privileged to work and associate with people in all areas of the Concord community as well as business leaders and alumni. And, it has been a pleasure interacting with the students,” Brogan said.

While working in the Alumni Office, Sherry was a member of the Homecoming Committee. She assisted in planning and implementing the parade and other alumni activities associated with homecoming.

Mrs. Brogan has been a key organizer of the Homer K. Ball Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament each year.

Sherry is looking forward to her upcoming retirement. “I’m planning on traveling with my husband and spending a lot of time in Texas with my new granddaughter,” she said.

She says she will miss her co-workers in the Financial Aid Office but plans to remain an active part of events on campus.
