ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University Theatre Department will be performing Christopher Durang’s “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You” Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Saturday, Nov. 12. Performances will begin at 8 p.m. each evening in the Alexander Fine Arts Center’s H.C. Paul Theatre. The Fine Arts Center is located on Concord’s Athens, W.Va., campus at 1000 Vermillion Street.

One of Durang’s most popular and controversial pieces, the play centers around a Catholic nun who is reunited with some of her former students, only to find that each one is emotionally disturbed. Beside her the entire time is her current young student, Thomas. “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You” offers a unique combination of dark humor and satire.

Performing the lead role of Sister Mary Ignatius will be Ainsley Miller. T.J. Meadows will be performing the role of Thomas. Additional cast members playing Sister Mary’s past students include: Zach Marquis as Gary; Jessie Simmons as Diane; Mary Beth Miller as Philomena; and Alex Fakourey as Aloysius.

Tickets for the play cost $5 for adults and may be reserved through the Concord University Box Office at or by calling (304) 384-5101 or emailing Concord faculty, staff and students will be admitted at no charge. The Box Office will open for ticket sales one hour prior to performances at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Saturday, Nov. 12.
