ATHENS, W.Va. - The 26th Athens-Concord Town Social brings an afternoon of fun to the front lawn of Concord University on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Theme for 2012 is “Come Home – CU in Athens.”

Craft vendors, live musical entertainment, children’s games, a complimentary hot dog lunch and free admission are all part of the event.

Two area musical groups return to the Town Social stage for 2012. Ridgeline and Appalachian Reign, formerly known as the Midnight Ramblers, will perform during the afternoon.

Individuals and businesses that have enhanced the community and campus life of Athens and Concord University are honored each year. Awards being presented by the Athens-Concord Town Social Committee include: Elder Citizen, Total Community Involvement, Extra Miler and Business Longevity. The committee will also present scholarships to Athens area students who will be attending Concord University in the fall.

The Athens Lions Club will present the Outstanding Citizen Award and the Beautification Award.
