ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University’s Stuff the Bus project is headed to South Charleston, W.Va. to collect school supplies for Kanawha County children.

Coordinated by Concord’s Beckley campus, Stuff the Bus provides classroom basics from pencils, notebooks and pens, to crayons, colored pencils and backpacks for students in need.

Two collection events at the Walmart (Southridge Center) in South Charleston are being held. Stuff the Bus representatives will be accepting donations of school supplies on Friday, Aug. 14 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, Aug. 15 from noon until 3 p.m.

“All supplies collected will be donated to the Kanawha County Board of Education. The Board of Education will distribute the supplies to the kids with the most need,” Stuff the Bus organizer Pam Wallace said.

While this is the third year that Concord has participated in Stuff the Bus, the upcoming donation drive in South Charleston is the first time that school supplies have been gathered for Kanawha County children. Previous collections have benefited West Virginia students in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, Mercer and Wyoming counties.
