CONCORD UNIVERSITY JAZZ ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM JAMS CONCERT
ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Jazz Ensemble will present its annual JAMS or Jazz at the Monday Spot concerts beginning on Monday, Oct. 12 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Subway Sides on the bottom floor of the Jerry L. and Jean Beasley Student Center. The Student Center is located on Concord’s Athens, W.Va. campus at 1000 Vermillion Street.
The jazz ensemble will perform various repertoire including standards like “Moanin’” and “Every Day I have the Blues” featuring Concord University vocalist Crystale Taylor and fairly new songs such as “Musical Genocide” by jazz/soul vocalist Gregory Porter and Bruno Mars “Uptown Funk.”
Dr. David Ball, Professor of Music and Director of the Jazz Ensemble, says, “Last year we did a series of concerts called JAMS. These performances provide an opportunity for the jazz ensemble to showcase the music they’ve been working on in class.
“These performances are informal and crowd participation is both welcomed and encouraged! Please come sing, dance, socialize, eat/drink your dinner and/or study while you watch and listen,” adds Dr. Ball.
The second JAMS concert of the fall will be held on Monday, Nov. 16.
These concerts are free and open to public. Concord students, faculty, and staff, along with members of the community, are invited to attend. For more information, contact Dr. David Ball at (304) 384-6090 or email at email@example.com
