FOUNDERS’ DAY FESTIVAL, ALUMNI WEEKEND
PLANNED AT CONCORD UNIVERSITY
ATHENS, W.Va. – Events at Concord University April 22-24, 2016 offer the campus community and the surrounding area reasons to celebrate.
Alumni Weekend is scheduled for April 22-24. The reception/banquet at the Student Center on the evening of Saturday, April 23 is a special highlight. Guests will be treated to entertainment by the CU Jazz Band at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The Concord University Alumni Association will hold its awards ceremony that evening.

The Founders’ Day Festival debuts this year as Concord University celebrates 144 Years of Excellence. The festival is being held Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 on campus and offers a packed agenda.
A centerpiece event for the festival is the Founders’ Day Ceremony on Friday, April 22. The program begins at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. Keynote speaker is The Honorable Omar J. Aboulhosn, United States Magistrate Judge and a 1989 graduate of Concord.
Additional events scheduled for April 22 include a Faculty Art Show in the Arthur Butcher Art Gallery, a choir concert in the Fine Arts Theatre at 5 p.m., and a performance of “The Frog Prince” at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, vendors will be set up around campus. The Marsh Library is hosting a reading corner and games for children from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.
The Mountain Lions’ Spring Football Game is April 23. Tailgates prior to the game begin at 11 a.m. in the Callaghan Stadium parking lot. Kickoff is at noon.
