RADIO SHOW HOST HENRY MCCARTHY
ADDRESSING CONCORD UNIVERSITY'S ‘WRITERS BLOCK’
ATHENS, W.Va. – Henry McCarthy, radio show host of “Poets and Writers” out of Emory, Va., will address the “Writer’s Block” Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m. in the Seminar Room of Concord University’s J. Frank Marsh Library.
McCarthy’s show airs three times a week on WEHC, an NPR affiliate. He educates the audience on the philosophy of poets and writers. Interviews, poems and songs from this region are presented.
He has interviewed numerous Appalachian writers on his program, and his group of interviews will soon be archived by the University of Tennessee Press.
McCarthy is a former Dean at Appalachian State University. He is a guest actor at the UNCSA film school and his latest book of poems is “Never Read a How to Book.”
A favorite saying on McCarthy’s radio show is “We write poems every day in our hearts but are often afraid to share them.”
The Concord community and the general public are invited to attend this event at no charge. Concord University’s Division of Humanities and the Marsh Library are partnering to bring McCarthy to campus.
