ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University continues to reach out to students affected by the recent flooding in West Virginia.

A Disaster Relief Fund has been established through the Concord University Foundation to assist CU students and to help them be ready to start classes for the fall semester in August.

Concord’s Admissions and Financial Aid offices are working to identify new and continuing students who qualify for assistance through the fund.

“It is our desire to use foundation and institutional funds to help these students continue to work toward their degree,” said Greg King, Vice President for Enrollment Management. “We’ve had a number of students in Greenbrier and Summers counties qualify for additional scholarships.”

Concord students interested in learning if they qualify for assistance through the Disaster Relief Fund may contact Greg King at gking@concord.edu or 304-384-6305.

Donations generated from the Concord University Foundation’s 630 Challenge during the month of June – including an online campaign, phone-a-thon and direct mail campaign – have been designated to initially fund the account. These donations were originally earmarked for Concord’s annual fund, but were redirected in response to the immediate need of students from the flooded communities.

Thanks to contributions from the 630 Challenge and an additional donation from the Foundation, the Disaster Relief Fund currently stands at $10,000.

Donations to the Disaster Relief Fund continue to be accepted and may be made online at: http://www.concord.edu/cufoundation/630by630 Donors can also participate by texting “GIVE” to 1-304-370-4111.
