Concord University Homecoming Royalty Crowned In Halftime Ceremony
CONCORD UNIVERSITY HOMECOMING ROYALTY
CROWNED IN HALFTIME CEREMONY
ATHENS, W.Va. – Alumni, students, fans and other friends gathered on “The Campus Beautiful” for an afternoon of football and pre-game festivities for Concord University’s 2016 Homecoming celebration today (Saturday, Oct. 15).
Activities included a brunch at the President’s House, teas and other gatherings for sororities and fraternities and affinity tents in the stadium parking lot offering alumni a place to reconnect with former classmates.
The Homecoming Tailgate and Pig Roast took place prior to the game and through half-time for alumni and Mountain Lion fans to enjoy. The tailgaters were entertained by the band One Eyed Jack until the kick-off at 1:00 p.m.
Concord University’s 2016 Homecoming Royalty, crowned in a halftime coronation at Callaghan Stadium, are Catherina Santos from Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, representing the International Students Club and Levi Osawe from Jos, Nigeria, representing the Phi Delta Pi.
Concord University President Dr. Kendra Boggess and Dr. Marjie Flanigan, vice president of student affairs and dean of students, crowned the winners.
First runners-up are Heather Romage from Oak Hill, W.Va., representing Delta Zeta and Nicholas Bailey from Oceana, W.Va., representing Phi Sigma Phi.
There was a tie for second runners-up with Samantha Miller from Cowen, W.Va., representing Sigma Sigma Sigma and Alex Foster from Craigsville, W.Va., representing Sigma Tau Gamma; and Hannah Walsh from Lewisburg, W.Va., representing Alpha Sigma Alpha and Steven Kennedy from Jolo, W.Va.
Other candidates competing for the 2016 crowns were: Katie Johnson from Princeton, W.Va., representing Alpha Sigma Tau and Timothy James “T.J.” DeWitt from Princeton, W.Va., representing Chi Omega Psi.
