ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Alumni Association (CUAA) has awarded $49,000 in scholarships and book waivers to Concord students for the 2017-2018 academic year.

After review of over 100 applications, 24 Concord University students (six graduate and 18 undergraduate students) were selected as recipients of the 10 scholarships. The scholarships are: Sue B. Everett Scholarship, Ella Holroyd Scholarship, Hawey A. Wells Sr. Scholarship, Bolen Scholarship, Laurence E. Bayless Scholarship for Excellence in Field Biology, Caroline Dawson Ward Scholarship, The Mary Edna Beckett Scholarship, Bowman-Fraser Graduate Scholarship, and Otto & Kathryn McKinney Memorial Graduate Scholarship.

In addition to traditional scholarships, the CUAA awarded six Hamlett-Smith Book Waivers that fund the cost of books for the entire academic year for each recipient.

“As alumni, our greatest mission is to nurture the next generation of Concord graduates. The CUAA Scholarship Committee and our generous alumni donors are very pleased to support the education of these hard working students,” stated Melanie Farmer, Chair, CUAA Scholarship Committee.

CUAA scholarships are funded through generous donations of Concord alumni as a way to carry on Concord’s legacy.
