Piano Recital at Concord, Tuesday, October 2

Athens, W.Va. - Dr. Jane W. Smith, associate professor of music at Concord College, will present a piano recital on Tuesday, October 2, 2001, 7:00 p.m., in the Alexander Fine Arts Center.

Dr. Smith’s recital will include the performance of works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Paderewski, Frazelle, Liebermann, Crister, Zaimont, and Rodgers and Hough.

The first half of Dr. Smith’s program will consist of master composers from yesteryear, while the second half will include the works of contemporary composers.

Smith has taught at Concord for sixteen years.

The Communication Arts Department produces the College’s student newspaper, radio programming and television programming. The department also produces theatrical and musical productions. It is organized similar to today’s modern corporation with the students completing projects under both student and faculty supervision. This gives students real-world experience that focuses on accountability and responsibility.
