Stalwart Admissions Counselor Retires from Concord

Athens, W.Va. -Director of Admissions James M. “Jim” Huffman was recognized for outstanding service to Concord College on Tuesday, December 17, at a retirement party held in his honor. In addition to his service at Concord, Huffman worked in the admissions field at West Virginia Tech in Montgomery (Fayette County), Potomac State College of WVU in Keyser (Mineral County), and at West Virginia State College in Institute (Kanawha County).

“The high schools are getting smaller and the competition is getting tougher,” stated Huffman, in his remarks to his collegues. “You never know who you may be influencing when you’re recruiting students. You’ve made my job easy by being who you are. I know that you will continue the traditions that exist at this fine institution.”

“Jim has forgotten more about admissions and college recruiting than the rest of us will ever know,” stated Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid, Michael Curry.

Huffman received his B.S. from West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery, and his M.A. from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies and lives in Beaver with his wife, Patricia. He and his wife have one daughter, Jennifer.
