BB&T Contributes to CU Capital Campaign, “At The Crossroads”

Athens, W.Va. – At the Donor Appreciation banquet held on April 10, 2006, Vice President and City Executive Larry Ratliff from BB&T’s Princeton office presented David A. Barnette, chair of the Concord University Foundation, Inc., and Jerry L. Beasley, president of Concord University, a $7,500 check, which is the first installment toward a $50,000 pledge to the Concord University capital campaign, “At the Crossroads.”

Concord University nears completion of the most successful capital campaign in its history, securing in excess of $35,000,000. Funds raised through the capital campaign will be used for a number of projects, including the Nick J. Rahall, II Technology Center; University Point, which will house the Wilkes Family Interfaith Chapel and the Erickson Alumni Center; student scholarships; funding for faculty development; and improvements to the University’s facilities.

Mr. Ratliff stated that the commitment of $50,000 came from the BB&T West Virginia Foundation and, “We are so very honored to assist with this important campaign.”

Mr. Barnette stated that this has been an ambitious campaign for Concord, “The widespread support we have received from individuals and corporations reinforces the relevancy of Concord’s presence, particularly in southern West Virginia.”
