Social Work

Program Assistant

The Concord University Research and Development Corporation seeks a Social Work Grant Program Assistant. The Program Assistant duties include overseeing the daily operation and management of the office including procuring grant expenditures, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other partners to assist in successful execution of the program, and data management. This position is grant funded, is full-time, benefit eligible, with a salary commensurate with experience.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in  Social Work or other human service related field, previous experience providing administrative support, demonstrated written and oral skills, an ability to organize and manage a variety of tasks, office skills, and computer/software knowledge including database, spreadsheet/budget/office management software such as Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with bookkeeping, budget management, and grants management in a higher education setting, government agency, foundation or non-profit organization is preferred. Ideal candidates will be a self-starter, self-motivated, independent worker and well-organized with strong attention to detail.

Program Assistant

Concord University Upward Bound Program

The Concord University Research and Development Corporation seeks a Program Assistant for the federally-funded Upward Bound grant at Concord University. The Program Assistant provides clerical and supportive services to the daily office operations for the Concord University Upward Bound Program at Concord University.

Position Description

This position is federally funded by the Department of Education, through the Upward Bound program. This position includes general office management as well as fiscal responsibilities.  The position is full time, benefits eligible position with a salary commensurate with experience, contingent upon the availability of funding.

Minimum qualifications:

1.      Associate Degree in Business, Computer Technology, or related field;

2.      Previous experience in providing administrative support;

3.      Demonstrated written and oral skills;

4.      Ability to organize and manage variety of tasks;

5.      Desire to work with and ability to relate to diverse populations

6.      Basic office skills

Preferred qualifications:

1.     Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Technology, or related field;

2.     Experience working with high school students; 

3.     Experience working with confidential student information;

4.     Advanced office/ computer skills including database experience, spreadsheet/budget experience, and experience with office management software such as Microsoft Office Suite;

5.     Experience working with TRiO programs and/or other state/federal education grant programs;

6.     The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, self-motivated, and well-organized with strong attention to detail.

Educational Outreach Counselor

Concord University Upward Bound Program

The Concord University Research and Development Corporation seeks an Educational Outreach Counselor for the federally-funded Upward Bound grant at Concord University. The Educational Outreach Counselor is responsible for assisting in program implementation and for providing direct services to program participants in the Concord University Upward Bound Program.

Position Description:

This position is federally funded by the Department of Education, through the Upward Bound program. The position is responsible for assisting in program implementation, providing direct services to program participants and assisting in participant selection and the advising program during the academic year and summer components for the Concord University Upward Bound Program. The position is full time, benefits eligible position with a salary commensurate with experience, contingent on the availability of funding.

Minimum qualifications:

1.     Bachelor’s in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or human service related field;

2.     Experience working directly with high school students;

3.     Excellent written and oral communication skills;

4.     Experience in maintaining confidentiality;

5.     Experience with federally funded TRiO programs.

Preferred qualifications:

1.     Master’s in Education, Counseling, Social Work or related field;

2.     2+ years’ experience in working with high school students;

3.     Knowledge of the post-secondary admissions process;

4.     Experience and knowledge of Testing & Assessment Instruments and the ability to assess academic need and performance;

Concord University Veterans Upward Bound Program

The Concord University Research and Development Corporation seeks an Academic Advisor for the federally-funded Veterans Upward Bound grant at Concord University. The Academic Advisor responsible for assisting in program implementation and for providing direct services to program participants in the Concord University Veterans Upward Bound Program.
