The goal of sociology is to provide an understanding of the scientific study of human behavior in social groups. Sociology is concerned with the growth of the individual within the wider context of society. In the study of sociology, the student is encouraged to develop a theoretical framework and technique of investigation useful for analysis and insight into group behavior. Students seeking either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree in another discipline may pursue a minor in sociology.
Sociology Minor Requirements
15 Credit Hours
- SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology (3)
- Twelve (12) credit hours of Sociology electives, nine (9) of which must be at the 300 level or higher
- No more than three (3) credit hours of SOC 450 Sociology Internship may count toward the minor
