Health Sciences is a degree program that will prepare you to work in the healthcare field. We provide a strong foundation to give you a holistic view of the healthcare system and the numerous influences on individual health behavior and disease. Students who earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences at Concord University are prepared to enter a variety of settings including Medical School, Physician Assistant, a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, a Masters in Athletic Training, or directly into entry level healthcare jobs

We are excited to offer a unique path for students to enter directly into our Master in Physician Assistant program after only 3 years of Undergraduate education.

Students who are earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Science will choose one of four specific degree tracks:

  1. Students who are earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Science will choose one of four specific degree tracks: Pre-Physical Therapy: Students in the Pre-PT track will gain all of the required pre-requisites for many DPT programs while also getting hands on experience with our exercise science and Pre-Athletic Training students.
  2. Pre-Athletic Training: Students interested in Athletic Training can start their education at Concord and will receive all the skills needed to enter a Master of Science in Athletic Training. Additionally, we have several cooperative agreements with other universities to ensure a smooth transition into graduate school.
  3. Exercise Science: Students who are interested in helping individuals achieve optimal health and recovery through exercise and movement. Students in this track often go on to graduate school or careers in fields such as strength and conditioning.
  4. Pre-Professional studies: Students in the Pre-Professional track will receive a strong Health Science foundation and then can tailor their education to meet their specific career and educational needs. This is an excellent track for students who want to pursue Medical School, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, etc.

We encourage students to select an area of emphasis that most closely aligns with their professional, academic, and career goals.

The Health Sciences program is designed to provide experiences to develop foundational knowledge of human movement, behavior, and health; applicable skills; and necessary dispositions for acceptance to graduate schools and/or careers in health, wellness, sport, and medical fields.

  1. Students will acquire baseline practical and background knowledge required to matriculate into the health professional school or profession of their choice.
  2. Students will demonstrate through written assessment a depth and breadth of knowledge and apply the methods of inquiry in a discipline of their choosing.
  3. Students will access, analyze, interpret information, and solve problems as related to their field.
